Regulatory bodies around the world are requiring certification of medical device operators. We take this training and certification very seriously. We have set up a series of courses to certify you to the level that serves you best.
We are not just training operators, we want to ensure you can incorporate your CAPS® system into your clinical activity using best practice principles. We are creating a series of courses that will enable you to effectively and efficiently impact the health of your patients.
Our education is supported by our ongoing research involving a network of practitioners just like yourself. We are translating research protocols and results into clinical applications you can use daily with your patients.
These CAPS® system specific brief courses cover the basics needed to start using the CAPS® system in no time:
how to install and configure the CAPS® software and license
how to use the CAPS® hardware
how to use the different CAPS® software applications
They have been designed for any first time users, and a great tool to train new staff members so they can start using it to acquire data for you, without you having to psend the time to actually train them.
As the manufacturer of the CAPS® systems, a line of posturography medical products, we take training and certification very seriously.
Even if you have previously used your CAPS® system, we strongly suggest you take advantage of these training opportunities. Once you have completed your training course you can fully use your CAPS® system to better help your patients and in the process build a stronger and more successful practice.
We have established a series of courses that will allow you to be certified at the level that serves you best:
operator ‑ to successfully and correctly use the CAPS® system
basic clinical ‑ to correctly interpret the standard results obtained from your CAPS® system
advanced clinical ‑ to take advantage of the CAPS® system in non traditional applications and to be familiar with advanced features and results
IT/computer administrator ‑ to setup and maintain the CAPS® system in a variety of settings, from a stand‑alone personal computer with a single user, to enterprise installations with multiple computers and users
Each course is organized in a series of topics and you can take the courses at your own pace. However, since you should be familiar with the basic information before you correctly and proficiently use your CAPS® system, we suggest you complete at least the operator course before operating the CAPS® system. While you are enrolled, you will be able to access all the lectures you have already attended and review all or any specific topics already covered.
Just keep in mind that like in any training program, there are certain prerequisites. For example, we feel it is best you complete the operator training before you commence the clinical courses.
The choice is also dictated by the level of your involvement with the CAPS® system:
if you are the sole operator of the CAPS® system, you should be certified as an operator, a basic clinician, and an IT/computer administrator
if you are a member of the IT department or a computer administrator in an enterprise installation, you should be certified as an operator and an IT/computer administrator
if you have one of your staff members acquire the CAPS® data for you, then you should be certified as an operator, a basic clinician and eventually as an advanced clinician, whereas your staff member could be certified solely as an operator
Following the feedback of our customers, we have created a series of short courses covering specific topics on the use of the CAPS® systems.
They are designed to refresh the user's knowledge about a specific feature of the CAPS® system or to answer a specific question arising from the use of the CAPS® system
They cover technical aspects of both hardware and software, such as for example how to perform the hardware checkup to make sure everything works, or how to setup protocols in the CAPS® EQ or BalanceTRAK® software.
We have realized over many years of manufacture, development and research, that any clinical tool is only as useful as its clinical applications.
Therefore, we are designing a series of short courses that are application driven. We are translating the results of our research projects into applications you can easily implement daily with your patients.
We provide you with step by step instructions on how to integrate these protocols, the scientific background behind them, and their clinical significance.
We are also setting up a series of courses so you can successfully become part of our growing CAPS® Research Network. Even if you do not have any research experience, we will guide you through the whole process:
formulating a research idea
performing a detailed literature review on the research topic
defining a research protocol
looking for and securing funding
submitting the research project for review by an IRB
performing data collection and analysis
preparing and publishing a paper presenting the results of your research
Unless you already have an establish research career, you will participate in projects formulated by other members of the CAPS® Research Network: your contribution will include collecting data. As your experience as a researcher increases and you complete the advanced courses, you will be assigned more and more responsibilities, up to the point of being in charge of your own research project.
You decide the level of involvement you want: based on this, you will be asked to complete the corresponding courses. Once you have achieved proficiency in a specific topic you will obtain certification within our research network.
Each course is designed to be taken at a pace to suit your business and life style.
Lectures
We are designing a specific curriculum to teach you everything you need to know to grow from a novice to an expert in clinical research: it covers topics from basic research principles to advanced human research topics, and from statistics to instrumentation principles.
The first lecture in this curriculum is the Research Principles: Introduction. In this lecture you will:
Learn the basic principles behind:
research projects
human subjects in research
Refresh your knowledge about:
the CAPS® Hardware
the CAPS® Software
And pass the exam to be certified as a Field Investigator for the CAPS® Research Network!
As we develop the curriculum, new lectures will be added, so make sure you check back often and monitor new announcements.
Each of the courses in this series has been developed to train a data collector involved in a specific research project.
Topics covered will be:
what the project is
your role in the project
the project timeline
what tools will be used
what are the risks and precautions
how many subjects you are expected to recruit
what are the required subjects' characteristics
what are the subjects' inclusion/exclusion criteria
how to recruit subjects
how to handle the informed consent process
how to collect research data
what is the research protocol
and how to administer the research protocol
Step by step instructions are provided to ensure data collected from different sites is of the highest quality and can be compiled with minimum operator effort.
We want you to be a leader in the area of clinical posturography. To facilitate this, our commitment is to share and translate evolving scientific and clinical knowledge with you.
We will develop specific courses covering the anatomy and physiology of the postural control system, how you can measure its function, and the impact on your patient's health when a pathology affects the postural control system.
We will also cover additional topics such as signal acquisition and analysis, instrumentation, and statistics, which are an integral part of clinical posturography.
As we develop the curriculum, lectures will be added, so make sure you check back with us on a regular basis!
